Band History

The band was initially formed in early 2006 by Craig Brown, Craig Raven and Neil Goddard. The old band name was thanks to a friend of the band, Michelle. Legend has it that Neil and Craig Brown spent several hours trying to come up with a name over a drink or three. They eventually had a shortlist of three (including the incredible 'Tea and Cakes') and were about to text the efforts back to Craig Raven, who was sitting at home anxiously awaiting the suggestions. Neil stated that we didn't have many to suggest and Michelle replied with "Well, it's better than nothing". So that settled it.

Next came the search for a drummer. After looking long and hard, and enduring the LOUDEST version of Basket Case during one audition (we should have guessed when he said "I know that one"), the band were saved from a cheesy no-drummer-electro-pop setlist when Craig Brown mentioned to Ross about the band. Ross came along to a practice and ended up joining. He then persuaded Katy to brush up on the bass, and soon the band was complete!

2007 was a busy year for BTN.  Plenty of gigs and lots of new material added.  We're looking forward to rocking our way through 2008 from March onwards when Mr. Raven is back from his training course.

After lot's of feedback recently we decided the name had run its course.  From June 2008 we were re-christened Ninkasi after the Sumerian Goddess of brewing and beer!!
